Former TCU tight end DJ Rogers enters Cowboys camp as an undrafted rookie with reliable hands, blocking value and a special teams path.
Former TCU Horned Frogs tight end DJ Rogers is exactly the kind of undrafted free agent the Dallas Cowboys like to bring into camp.
He’s not arriving with first-round hype or a guaranteed roster path, but Rogers gives Dallas a big, dependable tight end with enough versatility to make the bottom of the depth chart interesting.

At 6-4 and 258 pounds, the former TCU starter has the frame to line up attached, work from a wing alignment and handle some of the less glamorous jobs tight ends need to do in the NFL.
Rogers’ college career was built slowly.
After limited offensive production early at TCU, he became a more regular part of the passing game in 2023 and 2024 before taking over a larger role in 2025. That final season was his best, as he caught 34 passes on 40 targets for 319 yards and two touchdowns across 13 games.
The numbers don’t scream future star, but they do show reliability. Rogers caught a pass in 12 of 13 games, forced 10 missed tackles, picked up 19 first downs and produced 169 yards after the catch.
He also had only two drops and was charged with just one penalty, which matters for a player trying to earn trust fast.
For Dallas, the challenge is obvious. Jake Ferguson leads the tight end room, with Luke Schoonmaker and Brevyn Spann-Ford already in the mix. Rogers will also have to compete with other depth options, including Michael Trigg.
His clearest path is simple: block, contribute on special teams and catch the ball when it comes his way.

Rogers isn’t a pure slot mismatch or explosive after-the-catch weapon, but he’s a steady in-line tight end who can help on play-action, flats, seams and checkdowns.
For TCU fans, Rogers is a name worth tracking. He may be a long shot, but his consistency gives him a real chance.
