TCU basketball continued rebuilding its 2026-27 roster with another Big 12 addition, landing former Texas Tech forward Luke Bamgboye.
The 6-11 Bamgboye gives the Horned Frogs size, rim protection and conference experience after spending last season with the Red Raiders.
He averaged 4.5 points, 3.4 rebounds and 1.7 blocks in 21 games at Texas Tech, making 12 starts and becoming a bigger piece late in the season after All-American forward JT Toppin went down with an injury.
That late-season experience matters. Bamgboye started Texas Tech’s final eight games, including both NCAA Tournament matchups, giving TCU a frontcourt player who has already handled pressure minutes in March.
His offensive role has been limited, but there’s clear upside. Bamgboye scored in double figures three times last season, including 13-point performances against New Orleans and Iowa State.
Against the Cyclones, he was efficient, hitting 6 of 7 shots from the field.
Defense is still the headline.
Before Texas Tech, Bamgboye played at VCU, where he averaged 3.8 points and 3.3 rebounds while emerging as one of the Atlantic 10’s top shot-blockers.
His 75 blocks ranked third in the league and second nationally among freshmen. That production helped him earn Atlantic 10 All-Defensive Team and All-Rookie Team honors.
A native of London, Bamgboye finished his prep career at AZ Compass Prep in Arizona before beginning his college career.
TCU has now added Bamgboye and DJ Thomas in the span of a week, giving the Frogs two former Big 12 forwards.

Bamgboye joins Ryan Hunt, Gavin Sykes, Trent Lincoln, Milos Sojic and Thomas among TCU’s newcomers.
For the Horned Frogs, this move is simple: more length, more defense and more frontcourt options.
