Lance Davis threw TCU’s first complete game since 2024 as the Horned Frogs beat Utah 3-1 to clinch the Big 12 series.
TCU baseball has found its edge on the mound at exactly the right time.
One day after shutting out Utah, the Horned Frogs rode a complete-game gem from Lance Davis to a 3-1 win Saturday at Lupton Stadium, clinching the series and giving Kirk Saarloos’ team another postseason-building statement.

Davis was the story from the first inning to the final out. The redshirt freshman worked all nine innings, becoming the first TCU pitcher to throw a complete game since Payton Tolle in 2024.
He allowed six hits, two walks and one run while striking out four on 111 pitches, 82 of them for strikes. His fastball sat around 97 mph, and once he found rhythm, Utah had very little room to breathe.
The only damage came in the fourth, when Cameron Gurney launched a solo shot to center field to give the Utes a 1-0 lead. TCU answered quickly.
Sawyer Strosnider, who had been fighting through a tough stretch, crushed his 13th home run of the season to left-center and tied the game.
The Frogs took control in the fifth. Jack Bell doubled, and Cole Cramer came through with a two-out single up the middle to make it 2-1.
An inning later, Chase Brunson singled, Nolan Traeger moved him to third and Rob Liddington drove him home for an insurance run.
Utah reliever Demetri Diamant kept TCU quiet late, striking out four over three scoreless innings, but Davis never let the game tilt back.

Even after a two-out single in the ninth, Saarloos stuck with him, and Davis finished the job.
TCU has allowed just one run through two games against Utah. Now the Frogs go for a Mother’s Day sweep before next week’s major Big 12 road test at West Virginia.
