TCU women’s basketball landed Spanish guard Claudia Contell, adding a proven pro scorer and former U20 European Championship MVP.
FORT WORTH - TCU women’s basketball just went international to finish its roster with a serious punch.
The Horned Frogs signed Spanish guard Claudia Contell for the 2026-27 season, adding a 5-10 playmaker with professional experience, national-team pedigree and one year of eligibility. This isn’t some long-term project. Contell arrives in Fort Worth built to help right now.

Contell has spent the last six years competing with clubs in Spain’s top basketball structure, including Euroleague and Liga ACB environments.
During the 2025-26 season with CB Gran Canaria, she averaged 16.6 points, 4.5 rebounds, 3.3 assists and 2.3 steals per game while shooting 40 percent from 3-point range.
That’s a nasty two-way profile.
She later played for Estepona, where she averaged 10.4 points, 3.1 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 2.2 steals in 27 minutes per game.
Add in previous stops with Valencia Basket, Hozono Jairis and Cadí La Seu, and TCU is getting a guard who has already lived through high-level basketball pressure.
Contell’s résumé with Spain is even louder. She was named MVP of the 2022 U20 European Championship after leading Spain to gold, averaging 10.4 points, 3.6 rebounds, 3.1 steals and 1.9 assists.
She also helped Spain win bronze at the 2023 U20 European Championships and ranked among the event’s top assist producers.
That’s winning experience, not recruiting hype.
Contell joins a loaded spring class that includes Lanie Grant, Bella Hines, Avery Hjelmstad, Camille Williams, Jadyn Wooten and stretch forward Lara Somfai.
TCU also brings back Clara Bielefeld and Clara Silva while adding freshmen Sarah Portlock, Laura Vilcinskas and Jessie-May Hall.
With Contell in, the Horned Frogs’ 2026-27 roster is complete.
And it’s got a whole lot more international edge.
