TCU baseball heads to DBU looking to extend its midweek win streak as Sawyer Strosnider stays hot and the Horned Frogs chase a key road victory.

FORT WORTH - TCU baseball returns to the road Tuesday night for a matchup with Dallas Baptist, and the Horned Frogs could use a positive experience.

After dropping another Big 12 series over the weekend, TCU gets a chance to reset in a familiar midweek spot against a DBU team that can swing the bats and punish mistakes fast.

That makes TCU baseball vs. DBU one of the more interesting nonconference games on the schedule this week.

The Horned Frogs have been reliable in these midweek contests, carrying a 4-1 record and a four-game winning streak into the game.

If they’re going to keep that trend going, they’ll likely need another big night from a lineup that continues to show patience and timely power.

Sawyer Strosnider has become the headline name in that effort. The TCU slugger homered four times over the last four games and drove in 10 runs during that stretch, giving the offense a much-needed spark.

He’s also drawn 23 walks this season, one of the best totals in the Big 12, which fits the identity of a TCU team that leads the conference with 158 walks.

The Frogs have consistently created traffic on the bases, even when the run production hasn’t always matched.

There are encouraging signs on the mound, too.

TCU recorded its first shutout of the season Saturday behind Lance Davis and Walter Quinn, and Quinn’s 12 appearances show just how heavily Kirk Saarloos trusts him in key spots.

Noah Franco’s return over the weekend also gives the pitching staff a little more depth moving forward.

DBU still presents a real challenge. The Patriots have launched 50 home runs, one of the top marks in the country, with Jake Bennett already at 11. Cooper Neville is hitting .384, so Cade Nelson and the TCU staff will have to be careful from the start.

Still, TCU has played well in this series lately and has handled road midweeks under Saarloos. Tuesday feels like a chance to get momentum back before the grind of conference play ramps up again.
