TCU heads to Waco for a pivotal Big 12 baseball series against Baylor with both teams tied at 8-7 in conference play entering the weekend.
TCU baseball heads to Waco this weekend for one of its biggest Big 12 series of the season, and the stakes are easy to see.
TCU and Baylor are both sitting at 8-7 in conference play, which makes this three-game set a major swing series in the middle of the Big 12 race.
The Horned Frogs enter the weekend at 22-14 overall after bouncing back from a series loss to Arizona with a 12-5 midweek win over Tarleton State.
TCU’s recent success has been fueled by improved pitching and timely power. Over the last seven games, the Frogs have allowed only 15 runs and posted two shutouts, a sign that the staff is starting to settle in at the right time.
Offensively, TCU has shown more punch lately, launching 20 home runs over its last 12 games to raise its season total to 43.
Nolan Traeger added to that trend this week by hitting his first homer of the season, becoming the 12th Horned Frog to go deep in 2026. TCU has also stayed patient at the plate, ranking among the national leaders with 224 walks, while its defense continues to turn momentum-changing double plays at a high rate.
Baylor comes in at 21-15 overall and fresh off a wild extra-inning win over UTSA.
The Bears have some speed and power to challenge TCU, led by Brady Janusek, who is hitting .338 with 14 stolen bases, and Tyce Armstrong, who has clubbed 14 home runs.
That combo gives Baylor a dangerous offensive backbone heading into the series.
There’s also plenty of history here. Friday night’s opener will mark the 349th all-time meeting between the longtime rivals.
Baylor holds a narrow edge in the overall series, but TCU has controlled much of the recent matchup, winning five straight series against the Bears.
With conference positioning, rivalry pride, and postseason momentum all in play, this weekend’s TCU-Baylor series should feel like much more than just another stop on the schedule.
