TCU keeps a Fort Worth-area priority home as Crowley OT Alexander Herrera gives the Horned Frogs a major 2027 recruiting win.
TCU football just made a loud statement on the recruiting trail, and this one should hit differently in Fort Worth.
Alexander Herrera, a massive 2027 offensive tackle from Crowley High School, has committed to the Horned Frogs, giving Sonny Dykes and his staff a key local win during the opening wave of official visits.
For a program trying to build real Big 12 staying power, keeping a high-upside trench prospect from its own backyard is exactly the kind of move that matters.
Herrera isn’t some random flyer. He’s a three-star offensive tackle with serious size, a long recruiting trail and plenty of regional attention.
TCU had been pushing hard for months, and the Horned Frogs finally closed the deal after making him feel like a priority.
SMU and others were involved, but TCU had the stronger pull. Herrera had visited Fort Worth repeatedly over the past year, and by the time his official visit arrived, the fit felt obvious.
He told Rivals the decision was a “no-brainer,” saying he was simply waiting for the right moment.
That moment arrived, and TCU didn’t miss.
Herrera gives the Horned Frogs another foundational piece in the 2027 class. He’s ranked among the top offensive tackles in the country and among the better prospects in Texas, which makes this commitment even more important.
Winning battles inside the Lone Star State is never optional for TCU. It’s survival.
The Horned Frogs don’t have the luxury of letting every Fort Worth-area lineman get pulled away by bigger brands. When a player like Herrera is right down the road, you have to make the relationship stick.

TCU did that.
Now the Horned Frogs have a big-bodied offensive tackle with local roots, development upside and real buy-in. That’s a strong way to open official visit season.
