TCU student-athletes closed 2026-27 with 132 Big 12 academic honors, led by baseball, track and a massive Dr. Gerald Lage Award haul.
TCU didn’t just make noise in competition during the 2026-27 athletics year; it also stacked up wins in the classroom, with 132 TCU student-athletes earning academic recognition from the Big 12 Conference to close the season.
That’s a serious flex for a department that continues to sell itself as more than just game-day flash.
The total haul included 62 selections to the 2026 Spring Academic All-Big 12 Team, 46 freshmen on the 2025-26 Academic All-Big 12 Rookie Team and 24 student-athletes earning the Dr. Gerald Lage Academic Achievement Award.
The Lage Award is the Big 12’s top academic honor, reserved for athletes who have lettered, completed at least 90 credit hours, spent at least one academic year at their school and carried a cumulative GPA of 3.80 or better.
Beach volleyball set the pace for TCU in that category, landing five Lage Award recipients ... Kaitlyn Bradley, Emma Glagau, Grace Townson, Megan Walsh and Morgan Williams.
Women’s swimming and diving also came through with four honorees - Alexis Drap, Inge Ehm, Morgan Rodriguez and Giorgia Vavalle - while triathlon added three more with Anna Besenyei, Maria Coral and Sara Gimena Schummelfeder.
Baseball and women’s track and field delivered the biggest Academic All-Big 12 numbers for TCU, each placing 14 student-athletes on the spring list.
For baseball, that group included Jack Arthur, Jack Bell, Mason Brasfield, Lance Davis, Kade Dumin, Cole Eaton, Noah Franco, Colton Griffin, Zack James, Tyler Phenow, Walter Quinn, Tanner Sagouspe, Sawyer Strosnider and Nolan Traeger.
Women’s track and field matched that total behind names like Olivia Andrews, Megan Calhoun, Quinn Calhoun, Genesis Jackson, Kate Selover, Josey Whitaker and Jordan White.
Women’s golf had the cleanest sweep, with all six eligible players earning Academic All-Big 12 recognition. Kirstin Angosta, Charlotte Cattaneo, Sofie Dimitrova, Gracie McGovern, Camille Min-Gaultier and Sofia Barroso Sá all made the cut.
The rookie list showed TCU’s next wave is already handling business, too. Forty-six first-year Horned Frogs earned recognition, with men’s swimming and diving freshman Isaac Carr nominated with a 4.0 GPA.
In all, 14 TCU varsity programs had at least one athlete honored. That’s not a footnote. That’s a department-wide statement.
