TCU grabbed podium points and sent six more athletes to finals at the Big 12 Outdoor Championships, setting up a huge closing day.
TCU track and field made noise on Day Two of the Big 12 Outdoor Championships, with Coulaj Eans, Ben Kirbo and a wave of Horned Frogs pushing the program into position for a fierce finish.
At Roy P. Drachman Stadium, Eans didn’t need much time to make his mark.
He launched a season-best 7.39 meters, or 24 feet, 3 inches, in the long jump and locked down an eighth-place finish. One jump, one statement, one important scoring result for TCU.
Kirbo added another strong chapter to one of the best pole vault careers in Horned Frogs history.
The senior cleared 5.23 meters, or 17 feet, 1¾ inches, to finish fifth and earn another All-Big 12 honor. For TCU, those field-event points mattered.
Then the track crew turned up the heat.
Mohamed Kowa and Georgia Scott both punched tickets to another final after already qualifying in the 1500 meters earlier in the meet.
Kowa won his 800-meter heat in 1:47.20, powering through the final 200 meters like he had another gear waiting. Scott was just as sharp, taking control from the start and winning her 800-meter heat in 2:03.29.
The Frogs also doubled up in the men’s 400 meters. Evander Thomas ripped a personal-best 45.86 from lane eight to win his heat, while Ronnie Kendrick advanced with a fast 45.58 after finishing second in his section.
In the women’s 100 meters, Indya Mayberry made her outdoor-season debut look dangerous. She clocked 11.27 to reach the final, while Bailey Johnson grabbed the final qualifying spot with an 11.48.

That gives TCU six more finalists heading into the final day, plus momentum from two scoring field-event performances.
The Horned Frogs didn’t just survive Day Two. They loaded the runway for a closing-day charge.
