ARLINGTON - Texas A&M baseball stayed scorching hot Friday night, dismantling Virginia Tech 10-0 in a run-rule rout at Globe Life Field in Arlington.
The No. 23 Aggies stretched their winning streak to nine games behind another lockdown outing from left-hander Shane Sdao and a thunderous sixth inning that flipped the switch from steady to savage.
Sdao (2-0) set the tone early as the lefty carved through the Hokies’ lineup for six scoreless innings, scattering four hits while striking out five.
He issued just one walk and never allowed Virginia Tech to mount real pressure. It marked his second straight quality start and reinforced why he’s quickly becoming a cornerstone of Texas A&M’s weekend rotation.
The offense gave him breathing room in the first when Chris Hacopian launched his first home run in an Aggies uniform, a solo shot that energized the 7,181 fans in attendance.
Terrence Kiel II added to the lead in the fourth with an RBI single, continuing his season-long consistency at the plate. Kiel has now recorded a hit in all nine games this year.
Then came the avalanche. Texas A&M exploded for eight runs in the sixth inning, stacking doubles like cordwood. Caden Sorrell, Blake Binderup and Jake Duer delivered three straight two-base hits, driving in five combined runs.
Duer finished 2-for-4 with two doubles, giving him six multi-hit games this season. Sorrell chipped in two RBI, while Binderup reached base twice and scored twice in a pivotal pinch-hit appearance.
By the time Cole Hubert closed the door in the seventh, the Aggies had not only secured the shutout but also stamped another statement win on their growing body of work. Texas A&M baseball looks every bit like a team built for a deep postseason run.
Next up, the Aggies face No. 1 UCLA on Saturday at 7 p.m. CT and Arizona State at 6:30 p.m. CT on Sunday inside Globe Life Field as the Amegy Bank College Baseball Series continues through the weekend.
