ARLINGTON - Texas A&M baseball is rolling ... and the timing couldn’t be better.
The No. 23 Aggies head into a marquee weekend at the Amegy Bank College Baseball Series in Arlington riding a nine-game winning streak after dismantling Virginia Tech 10-0 at Globe Life Field on Friday.
Now, the spotlight gets brighter. A&M faces No. 1 UCLA at 7 p.m. CT Saturday before a Sunday night clash with Arizona State at 6:30 p.m. CT.
If Friday was any indication, the Aggies are ready for the national stage.
Left-hander Shane Sdao delivered another statement outing, tossing 6.0 shutout innings with five strikeouts to move to 2-0 on the year. The Aggies’ pitching staff has quietly become a backbone of this early surge, and Sdao’s command and poise could loom large against a powerhouse UCLA lineup.
Offensively, A&M flipped a switch in explosive fashion.
Chris Hacopian launched his first home run in maroon to ignite the offense, while Caden Sorrell and Jake Duer punished Hokie pitching.
Duer racked up two doubles and continues to stack multi-hit games, and Terrence Kiel II stayed scorching as he’s now reached base in all nine contests this season.
But Saturday presents a different animal.
No. 1 UCLA represents a measuring stick opportunity - the kind of early-season showdown that shapes postseason resumes and NCAA Tournament seeding conversations.
Globe Life Field, with its big-league backdrop and high-energy atmosphere, offers the perfect proving ground.
Sunday’s battle with Arizona State adds another layer of intrigue. With momentum surging and confidence building, Texas A&M has a chance to leave Arlington not just undefeated on the weekend ... but nationally validated.
The Aggies are hot. Now comes the test that could define their season.
