Several programs have spent a wealth of cash to bolster their rosters in the NIL era, but Texas A&M reportedly rose above them all when it came to the 2027 recruiting class.
In the modern era of college athletics, NIL has become as commonplace as tailgates, fight songs and bitter rivalry showdowns.
Regardless of personal feelings on the topic, it shows no signs of going anywhere anytime soon.

This means that programs are forced to work in the process of gathering up funds to ensure that they can have the best chance of competing with the best around the nation, with power conferences like the SEC and Big Ten especially prominent for these types of bidding wars.
While there are big spenders all across the landscape of college sports, there always has to be a program to top the list as the one with the deepest pockets.
According to On3's Pete Nakos, that program is none other than Texas A&M.
In a in-depth analysis of the 2027 high school football recruiting cycle, Nakos reported that the Aggies shelled out upwards of $10 million to bring the best young talent to College Station.
For many this number may sound ridiculous, and truthfully it is understandable considering how much of a far cry it is from years gone by, but in the latest incarnation of college football it is simply par for the course.
Not only does Texas A&M have to compete in arguably the best conference in college football, but the Aggies also have to fight with other in-state programs in one of the country's most talented recruiting beds.
Look no further than former rival Texas Tech, who does most of its work in the transfer portal, at least for now, and has transformed its program from a mid-level team at best to a perennial College Football Playoff contender.
It is also not just the Red Raiders, as the Aggies themselves have reemerged in the national conversation under incoming third-year head coach Mike Elko. A&M went 12-1 in a loaded SEC and made its first trip to the CFP before falling to eventual runner-up Miami in a tight contest.
While Elko has showcased great skills in turning around a program stuck in mediocrity for decades, he must continue to bring in fresh talent year after year to keep the Aggies relevant. And sending out beau coups of cash will not hurt the chances of making sure that can happen.
It may be uncharted territory in the NIL era of college athletics, especially in regards to football, however, it appears that Texas A&M is finding its way through just fine.
