Texas A&M basketball has connected with VCU transfer Terrence Hill Jr., a 15-point scorer who could be a strong fit for Bucky McMillan’s system.
Texas A&M basketball is already moving aggressively in the transfer portal, and one of the first names to watch is VCU guard Terrence Hill Jr.
As Bucky McMillan begins reshaping his second Aggies roster, Texas A&M appears focused on adding proven scoring, efficiency and backcourt playmaking for the 2026-27 season.
That approach makes sense after an encouraging first year under McMillan.
The Aggies reached the NCAA Tournament again and finished 22-12 overall with 11 conference wins, a solid return for a team that had to be built almost entirely through portal additions.
But this offseason brings another major reset. Texas A&M is losing key contributors from a group led by Rashaun Agee, who paced the team in both scoring and rebounding.
Now the challenge is finding players who fit McMillan’s style.
Hill checks a lot of those boxes. The former VCU standout averaged 15 points per game and 2.8 assists, while shooting nearly 47 percent from the field and 37 percent from 3-point range.
Those are the kind of numbers that jump out for a staff looking to maintain tempo without sacrificing shot quality.
That fit is especially important in McMillan’s system, where guards must be able to score efficiently and make fast decisions, while the frontcourt still needs enough athleticism and size to support the pace.
Hill’s production suggests he could help on both fronts by bringing scoring punch and steady offensive creation to the backcourt.
Texas A&M has reportedly arranged a Zoom meeting with Hill and is one of several schools trying to get involved early.
For the Aggies, that early traction matters. Portal recruiting can move quickly, and building momentum now could help McMillan attack other roster needs before the spring window closes.
It’s still early, but Hill looks like the type of portal target who makes plenty of sense for Texas A&M. If the Aggies can turn early contact into a commitment, it would be a meaningful first step in another important offseason rebuild.
