Texas A&M transfer Isaiah Horton says Mike Elko’s culture and Marcel Reed’s arm talent helped bring him to College Station for the 2026 season.
Texas A&M football may have added 17 transfer portal players this offseason, but few newcomers have generated as much buzz as wide receiver Isaiah Horton.
Through seven spring practices, the former Alabama transfer has looked every bit like a player who could make an immediate impact for Mike Elko’s 2026 Aggies.
That’s a big deal for a Texas A&M offense trying to build on last season’s College Football Playoff breakthrough.
Horton arrives in College Station with size, experience and proven production, giving quarterback Marcel Reed another major weapon in the passing game alongside Mario Craver, Ashton Bethel-Roman and Terry Bussey.
At 6-4, Horton gives the Aggies a different kind of target on the outside.
His frame, catch radius and versatility make him a natural fit in a receiver room that already has speed and explosiveness.
More importantly, he’s looked comfortable early in spring camp, which is often one of the clearest signs a transfer is ready to contribute right away in the SEC.
Horton said his decision to join Texas A&M came down to more than football scheme. He pointed to Mike Elko’s program culture and his trust in Reed as two major reasons he made the move.
That connection matters. Horton and Reed go back to their high school days in Tennessee, and that familiarity could help fast-track chemistry in the Aggies’ offense this fall.
For Elko and his revamped staff, portal additions were always going to play a major role in shaping the 2026 roster. Horton looks like one of the most important pieces of that strategy.
If spring practice is any indication, Texas A&M didn’t just land another experienced receiver.
The Aggies may have found a true difference-maker who believes in where the program is headed and could help push the offense to another level this season.
