Texas A&M spring football is spotlighting freshman WR Aaron Gregory and RB Tiger Riden as the Aggies search for more explosiveness and toughness in 2026.
Texas A&M spring football keeps producing new storylines, but a few names are starting to rise above the rest.
Through seven practices, the Aggies have gotten encouraging flashes from several young playmakers, including freshman wide receiver Aaron Gregory and redshirt freshman running back Tiger Riden.
The Aggies are working to replace key production and build more balance on offense heading into the 2026 season. Early in spring camp, one of the clearest developments has been the impact of the freshman receiver group.
Gregory, in particular, has looked like a player who could push his way into meaningful snaps by the fall. The former blue-chip prospect has turned heads with his burst, body control and ability to make himself available in the passing game.
That kind of emergence could give Mike Elko’s offense another dimension as the Aggies continue sorting out roles at wide receiver.
The running back room is drawing attention, too.
After Le’Veon Moss moved on to the NFL, Texas A&M chose not to bring in a transfer at the position. That decision put even more focus on the backs already in the program, starting with Rueben Owens, who is expected to take over the lead role.
Sophomore Jamarion Morrow also returns after rushing for 182 yards and two touchdowns last season, bringing speed and quickness to the rotation. Freshman KJ Edwards adds even more explosiveness.
But Riden may be the most intriguing fit of all. At 5-10 and 212 pounds, he offers the kind of sturdy, downhill presence Texas A&M lacked at times in short-yardage situations last year.
He’s also shown progress in pass protection, which could help earn trust quickly. In limited action last season, Riden ran for 45 yards and a touchdown, and this spring he looks ready to compete for a much bigger role.
For now, Texas A&M’s youth movement is impossible to ignore.
