Texas A&M baseball completed a historic road sweep at LSU, using dominant pitching and timely offense to leave Baton Rouge with a huge SEC series win.
Texas A&M baseball made a loud statement in the SEC on Sunday, finishing off a three-game sweep of LSU with a 5-2 win at Alex Box Stadium.
The Aggies improved to 31-7 overall and 12-5 in conference play, and the series result marked a breakthrough moment for the program in Baton Rouge.
For a team chasing postseason momentum, this was the kind of weekend that can change the tone of a season. Texas A&M got strong pitching, early offense and another steady performance from several of its hottest hitters to finish the job against the Tigers.
Caden Sorrell got the Aggies rolling immediately with a leadoff home run in the first inning, continuing his huge season and extending his on-base streak to 32 games.
Bear Harrison helped add to the lead with a sacrifice fly in the second, and Chris Hacopian delivered the biggest swing of the afternoon in the third with a two-run homer that pushed Texas A&M firmly in front.
Gavin Grahovac later added an RBI single as the Aggies built a five-run cushion.
That was plenty for the pitching staff.
Weston Moss gave Texas A&M exactly what it needed to open the game, working 4.1 scoreless innings while allowing just three hits and striking out five.
Gavin Lyons took over and was just as sharp, tossing 2.2 hitless innings to move to 7-0 on the season. Clayton Freshcorn closed it out, recording four strikeouts over the final two innings.
Grahovac stayed red-hot, going 2-for-5 with a run and an RBI. The junior extended his hitting streak to 13 games and posted his sixth straight multi-hit performance.
Hacopian finished with two RBIs, while Harrison continued his strong stretch by extending his on-base streak to 13 games.
The road sweep was Texas A&M’s first over LSU since joining the SEC and its first at Alex Box Stadium since 1978.
Now the Aggies head home for a midweek matchup with UTSA, carrying major momentum and looking every bit like a serious SEC contender.
