Former Texas A&M stars Cameron Champ and Chandler Phillips give Aggie fans two dangerous names to follow during the 2026 3M Open at TPC Twin Cities this week.
Aggieland has two legitimate rooting interests at the 2026 3M Open, and neither Cameron Champ nor Chandler Phillips is showing up at TPC Twin Cities merely to fill out the tee sheet.
The former Texas A&M standouts are part of this week’s PGA Tour field in Blaine, Minnesota, giving Aggie golf fans a familiar two-man squad to track.
Their paths into the tournament couldn’t be more different: Champ returns as a former champion with proven knockout power, while Phillips arrives hunting the breakthrough that’s felt increasingly close.
Champ owns the louder history at this event. The three-time PGA Tour winner captured the 2021 3M Open at 15-under, turning TPC Twin Cities into his personal launchpad.
He’s also remained dangerous in recent trips to Minnesota, finishing tied for 12th in 2024 and tied for 28th in 2025.
In other words, this isn’t a course that intimidates him.
Champ’s game has always been built around speed and unapologetic aggression.
When the driver is behaving, he can turn a long golf course into something much smaller. Texas A&M fans saw that raw ability before he turned professional in 2017.
During his junior season, Champ earned third-team All-America and first-team All-SEC honors while posting a 71.50 scoring average.
Phillips brings a different kind of threat—and arguably the better recent momentum.
He entered the 3M Open after three top-15 finishes across four starts, tying for 15th at the RBC Canadian Open, John Deere Classic and ISCO Championship.
Long before reaching the PGA Tour, Phillips rewrote Texas A&M’s record book, finishing his college career with a program-record seven tournament victories, 16 top-five finishes and 27 top-10s.
His senior-season scoring average of 70.18 also established an Aggie record.
Champ and Phillips aren’t simply two professionals who happened to attend the same school.
They were once one of college golf’s most dangerous one-two punches, earning All-Region and first-team All-SEC recognition together in 2017.
Now they’re back on the same stage with different missions.
Champ is trying to rediscover the formula that made him a 3M Open champion. Phillips is trying to kick down the door and grab his first PGA Tour victory.
Either way, Texas A&M has skin in the game in Minnesota—and two Aggies capable of making the leaderboard a lot more interesting.
