Texas A&M has gained serious momentum after hosting him for the Maroon & White Game on April 18, but this recruitment isn’t over yet.
Matthews has Texas A&M in his top four along with Miami, LSU and Georgia. All four programs are expected to receive official visits before he makes a decision.
That matters because Matthews recently made it clear he’s not rushing into a commitment.
Despite speculation that a decision could come soon, Matthews said he wants to take his official visits first and then announce after the final trip.
For Texas A&M, the selling points are obvious. Offensive line coach Adam Cushing has built a strong connection with Matthews, and the Aggies can point to recent NFL Draft success up front.
Four Texas A&M starting offensive linemen from the 2025 season were selected, giving the staff a powerful development pitch.
Miami will get its chance to make a move first, with Matthews expected to visit the Hurricanes near the end of the month. Texas A&M could then host him in early or mid-June, potentially during the June 5-7 or June 12-14 weekends.
The timing is important with the recruiting dead period beginning June 22.
Landing Matthews would be a monster win for Texas A&M. Elite offensive tackles don’t come around often, and the Aggies are trying to prove they can beat national powers for premium line talent.
For now, Texas A&M has momentum. The question is whether the Aggies can close.
