Texas A&M’s No. 1-ranked 2027 recruiting class could get even stronger as four-star linebacker Mikahi Allen trends toward the Aggies.
Texas A&M football recruiting is already moving like a heavyweight in the 2027 cycle, and the Aggies may not be done adding defensive firepower.
After a monster recruiting weekend that produced commitments from Aston Whiteside, Frederick Ards and Loia Valade, Texas A&M is now making serious noise with four-star linebacker Mikahi Allen.

That matters because the Aggies already own the No. 1-ranked 2027 recruiting class, and Allen would give Mike Elko’s staff another explosive defensive piece with real pass-rush juice.
Allen, a New Jersey standout, was in College Station for an official visit over the weekend.
That trip appears to have landed in a big way. After the visit, recruiting insiders Steve Wiltfong and Chad Simmons logged predictions for Texas A&M to eventually win his commitment ahead of Allen’s July 11 decision.
That doesn’t mean this recruitment is over. South Carolina is still very much in the fight, and Allen is expected to visit the Gamecocks next.
He also has official visits lined up with Florida State, Syracuse and Texas, giving several programs a chance to make a late push.
Still, Texas A&M clearly gave Allen something to think about.
He reportedly came away impressed by the family feel of the visit and the chance to connect with other targets the Aggies are recruiting.
On the field, Allen brings the type of production that fits today’s SEC linebacker profile.
During his junior season in 2025, he totaled 58 tackles, seven sacks, 10 tackles for loss and two interceptions, including one returned for a touchdown.
That’s not just a traditional linebacker stat line. That’s a disruptor.
According to 247Sports, Allen ranks as the No. 17 linebacker nationally and the No. 4 prospect in New Jersey.
Texas A&M signed four linebackers in the 2026 class, but Elko isn’t slowing down.
The Aggies are building depth, speed and edge versatility. If Allen joins the class, the No. 1 group gets even nastier.
