The Aggies star is expected to have himself quite a career if this projection pans out

The NFL Draft is fast approaching, with draft hopefuls putting their best foot forward in an attempt to be selected as high as possible, and Texas A&M's KC Concepcion is no different.

The star receiver is widely expected to be a first-round selection, and the Aggies star is on the radar of several teams.

Why? His elite acceleration and yards-after-the-catch ability have teams very interested in what he could become at the next level.

Of course, all of this is a projection.

We don't truly know how a player's game will translate from college to the NFL, but for Concepcion, his game feels built for the pros.

And it appears others think so as well.

ESPN's Aaron Schatz ranked the top eight receivers in the draft and gave them historical projections.

For KC, he came in at No. 6, but that's not the headline. His comparisons are.

Schatz has Michael Thomas and Tee Higgins.

"Concepcion starred as a freshman at NC State with 839 yards and 10 touchdowns in 2023," Schatz said. "Then he had a down year in 2024, with just 460 yards, before rebounding in 2025 with 919 yards after a transfer to the Aggies.

"He tied Tennessee's Chris Brazzell II (who is coming up below) for the SEC lead with nine receiving touchdowns last season. Concepcion depends on his quickness to get open against close coverage, so having a career like Thomas would truly be a best-case scenario for him."

Thomas or Higgins? That would be a superb career for Concepcion.

His quickness and route-running are what stand out for KC. He posted 919 yards and 9 TDs in 2025, showing NFL scouts exactly what he was all about.

Concepcion will likely find himself in a WR2 role in his rookie year as he learns the ropes, but make no mistake, just because he is ranked as the sixth-best receiver in the draft, KC has a lot of upside.

With a middle to late first-round projection, Concepcion on a team like the Detroit Lions (No.17), Los Angeles Chargers (No. 22), Philadelphia Eagles (No. 23), or even the Buffalo Bills (No. 26) is an interesting thought.

In truth, we don't know how the draft will land, but one thing is for sure: Concepcion will hear his name called in that first round, and whatever team gets him will add a key weapon to their offense.
