Texas A&M softball stormed back from 6-0 down to beat Mississippi State 10-9, finishing a huge SEC sweep behind Mya Perez and Paislie Allen.
Texas A&M softball delivered one of its most impressive wins of the season Sunday, rallying from a six-run hole to beat Mississippi State 10-9 at Davis Diamond and complete a crucial SEC series sweep.
The 11th-ranked Aggies improved to 34-12 overall and 14-4 in conference play, strengthening their postseason resume with another statement victory over a Top 25 opponent.
The game looked shaky early for Texas A&M. Mississippi State, ranked No. 14, exploded for six runs in the first inning and briefly had the Aggies on their heels.
But the response from Trisha Ford’s club was immediate and overwhelming.
Texas A&M sent a message in the second inning, erupting for nine runs in its biggest offensive frame of the year. Mya Perez delivered the loudest swing of the inning, crushing a grand slam that instantly changed the tone of the afternoon.
Paislie Allen kept the momentum rolling with a two-run homer of her own, part of a perfect 3-for-3 day that included three RBI and two runs scored.
Perez finished 2-for-4 with four RBI and extended her on-base streak to 49 games, continuing to be one of the most reliable bats in the Aggies' lineup.
Kelsey Mathis added two hits, while Kennedy Powell, Ariel Kowalewski and Frankie Vrazel also chipped in multi-hit performances as Texas A&M piled up 15 hits, matching a season high.
The Aggies added what turned out to be an important insurance run in the fourth when Allen dropped down an RBI bunt single to score Mathis and make it 10-6.
In the circle, Sidne Peters earned the win with 5.0 innings of relief, allowing Texas A&M to steady things after the rough opening.
Mississippi State made one final push with three runs in the seventh, but Peters recorded the last out to seal it.
Now the Aggies head to South Carolina carrying major momentum and a growing case as one of the SEC’s toughest teams.
