Texas A&M is gaining steam with five-star 2027 offensive tackle Mark Matthews after a strong visit and in-home push from the Aggies.
Texas A&M football may be closing in on another major recruiting win.
Five-star 2027 offensive tackle Mark Matthews, the nation’s top-ranked tackle in his class, has become a priority target for Mike Elko’s Aggies.
After a strong trip to College Station for the Maroon & White Game on April 18, Texas A&M has reportedly built real momentum with the Florida-based blocker.
Elko and offensive line coach Adam Cushing have made Matthews a central piece of their 2027 recruiting plan, and the pitch is getting stronger by the week.
The Aggies just landed five-star offensive lineman Kennedy Brown, giving the program another blue-chip win up front.
That matters. So does the fact that four Texas A&M starting offensive linemen from the 2025 season were selected in the 2026 NFL Draft.
For a high-end tackle prospect like Matthews, that’s the kind of development proof coaches love to sell.
Texas A&M also reportedly completed an in-home visit with Matthews and his family, with early feedback described as extremely positive.
That’s a big step as the Aggies try to separate from Miami and Georgia in a recruitment that appears to be moving quickly.
Miami remains involved, with offensive line coach Alex Mirabal also visiting Matthews at home.
Georgia has made a late push as well, but the Bulldogs are not currently viewed as a major threat to win his commitment in the near term.
For Texas A&M, the timing could be huge. The Aggies are preparing to host several key 2027 targets, and adding Matthews would give Elko’s staff another headline commitment to build around.
Recruiting elite offensive linemen is never easy, especially when Miami and Georgia are in the mix. But right now, Texas A&M has momentum, a proven NFL development pitch and a clear opportunity to land one of the biggest prizes in the 2027 class.
