The Texas Longhorns scored one of the most coveted players in the portal.

The Texas Longhorns have been trying to pull this big move off for over a week. Finally, they have landed one of the top targets in the transfer portal, ranked No. 2 overall in ESPN’s portal player rankings. Former Auburn wide receiver Cam Coleman announced on Sunday that he was transferring to the Longhorns. Texas won out on a sweepstakes for Coleman that included Alabama, Texas Tech and Texas A&M, all of which he visited, but ultimately chose the Longhorns.

The 6-foot-3, 201-pound sophomore has two seasons of eligibility left, and the former five-star recruit quickly became the best receiver available to programs in the portal. He will also shoot up NFL draft boards as a prospect next season and will look to be a key connection for Texas quarterback Arch Manning. Coleman had over 700 yards and five touchdowns on what was a flawed Tigers offense. He’ll now join a room with a lot more talent and an offense with a lot more firepower under head coach Steve Sarkisian.

Here is the full story from Longhorns Roundtable writer Nolan Clay on the massive addition for the Texas WR room.

It’s a lot easier to recruit pass catchers to a program when the quarterback is Manning, whose finish to his 2025 campaign was much stronger than his start. That wasn’t all on Manning though, with his receivers letting him down at times and his protection and blocking from his offensive line not always stellar. But as they retool for 2026, Coleman is an exciting add to replace departing receivers DeAndre Moore Jr. and Parker Livingstone in the transfer portal.
