No. 1 Texas defeated No. 15 Texas A&M in Austin on Friday night thanks to freshman Hannah Wells' game-winnning RBI.

The diamond sports at the University of Texas saw two walk-off wins - rivalry wins at that - in Austin on Friday night.

First, it was the baseball team edging past rival Oklahoma to clinch a massive SEC series win at Disch-Falk Field.

Then, it was the Longhorns No. 1-ranked softball squad beating No. 15 Texas A&M in walk-off fashion to take the series opener over at McCombs Field.

It was both teams' first walk-off win of the season.

Mike White's Horns extended their nation-leading 28-game win streak as Wells' single reached on a fielder's choice that allowed Vivian Martinez to score and put Texas in front 9-8.

The back-and-forth affair saw Texas (30-1, 7-0 SEC) claw back in the bottom of the fifth with two runs to tie the game. The only blank inning on both sides came in the sixth before the Longhorns ended the night in the bottom of the seventh.

Texas A&M dropped to 23-10 and 5-2 in SEC play.

Teagan Kavan improved to a stellar 13-0 in her 13th start in the circle. She pitched 4.2 innnings total after re-entering late in the game. Kavan allowed seven hits and five runs while striking out four.

Martinez, the game-winning base runner, was on fire offensively before the final inning. She homered in the first and fifth innings (her first two home runs of the season), added two doubles in between, and posted four RBI in a 4-4 outing at the plate.

It was her second-career multi-home run game and tied a career-high in hits.

Wells, a freshman utility player from Coahoma, Texas, was last year's Gatorade National Player of the Year in the high school ranks. She's just the second player to win that award and join the Longhorns program, along with program icon Cat Osterman.

The freshman standout is now sixth on the team with 22 runs driven in on the season.

Texas and Texas A&M are back on the field Saturday at 1 p.m. CT with the Longhorns in position to clinch the three-game series. The finale is scheduled for Sunday at 1 p.m.
