Texas will welcome Tai Bell to Austin this week. The 4-star recruit in the 2028 class is the brother of a major face now on campus.

A trend could be forming on the Forty Acres.

In late 2025, the Texas Longhorns men's basketball program landed coveted 5-star recruit Austin Goosby, the brother of starting left guard in football, Trevor Goosby.

Austin - the No. 19-ranked player in the 2026 high school class - will suit up for Sean Miller's team as the coach's first blue-chip recruit since taking over the Longhorns program last offseason.

Now, Texas is trying to land another standout in basketball thanks to some help from an older brother on the football team.

Miller and the Horns have scheduled a visit this week with 4-star point guard Tai Bell, whose brother, Dia, was a 5-star quarterback prospect on the gridiron and has signed to join Steve Sarkisian's roster later this spring ahead of the 2026 season.

Dia is one of the top young quarterback recruits in the country and is an early candidate to take the reins of Sark's offense once Arch Manning likely follows his own family tree taking his talents to the NFL.

Of course, the Bell family isn't unfamiliar with professional sports, either. Dia and Tai are the sons of 12-year NBA veteran Raja Bell.

Tai is quickly asserting himself as one of the top prospects coming into his own in high school. The 6-3 combo guard is ranked No. 25 nationally by 247Sports in the 2028 recruiting class out of Mater Lakes Academy in Florida.

He will visit the Longhorns on Feb. 25.

Check out Tai's sophomore year mixtape below, where he showcases a quick first step off the dribble and elite awareness of opportunities to take the ball away and push in transition.

As he explains in the caption, he can fill it up. Bell averaged 33.5 points per game as a sophomore this past season to go with 7.5 rebounds, 5.1 assists and 4.0 steals a night on nearly 53 percent shooting from the field.

As a freshman last school year, he posted 25 points and 10 rebounds a game.

Bell currently holds offers from major Power 4 programs like Houston, Purdue, Syracuse, Kansas State and Florida State.

Other unofficial visits lined up soon are with Houston (Feb. 28) and defending national champion Florida (March 3).

For now, his recruitment remains open, but we know that he has the Longhorns in mind as Dia is working towards beginning career this upcoming season. His younger brother threw the horns up on social media in support.

If Miller's recruitment follows this trend, we could be seeing another pair of brothers star together in Austin very soon.
