Buffaloes boost passing game. Former Texas star DeAndre Moore joins QB Julian Lewis, aiming to elevate Colorado's offense with explosive potential.

The Colorado Buffaloes are coming off a 3-9 record last season. Their passing offense ranked No. 13 in the Big 12 with 202 yards per game. Kaidon Salter has moved on and the quarterback duties will now fall to Julian Lewis. In his freshman campaign a season ago, Lewis played in only four games and threw for 589 yards and four touchdowns.

Lewis posted a season-high 299 yards and two touchdowns in a road loss at West Virginia.

Colorado currently has the No. 17 transfer portal class with three days left in this transfer cycle. Over the past two weeks, the Buffaloes have lost two of their top receivers: Omarion Miller (to Arizona State) and Dre’Lon Miller (to Baylor).

Colorado and "Coach Prime'' Deion Sanders just got a boost to their passing offense on Tuesday when former Texas Longhorns receiver DeAndre Moore committed to the Buffaloes.

Moore was rated as the No. 5 receiver in the portal, according to 247 Sports. At 6-0, 192 pounds, Moore caught 38 passes for 532 yards and four touchdowns. In two seasons in Austin, Moore recorded 77 catches for 988 yards and 11 touchdowns.

In the win over Arkansas last season, Moore recorded a season-high three touchdowns on three catches for 74 yards. At Colorado, he joins fellow transfer receiver and All-American Danny Scudero (San Jose State), who led the nation with 108 receiving yards per game.

Moore is the second former Longhorn to commit to a new team this week. Former Texas running back C.J. Baxter committed to Kentucky on Sunday. This duo leaves a Longhorns team that has gotten richer during this portal cycle, with the additions of receiver Cam Coleman and running backs Raleek Brown and Hollywood Smothers.

Moore leaves quarterback Arch Manning in favor of Lewis. Manning accounted for over 3,500 yards and 37 touchdowns and looks like they could have one of the top offenses in college football next season.

With that said, Moore will provide a skillful target for a talented quarterback who needs more game action to show off his passing skills. As a prep star in Georgia, Lewis passed for 10,000 yards in his high school career in the state’s highest classification, despite reclassifying and skipping his senior year.

When you pair Lewis with Moore, this young but talented QB/WR duo could lead the Buffaloes passing game to significant improvement, both in yardage and wins, next season.
