Dallas Cowboys head coach Brian Schottenheimer flew from Miami to Austin on Monday in a determined effort to meet with Texas LB Anthony Hill Jr.

Former Texas Longhorns linebacker Anthony Hill Jr. continues to garner attention from throughout the NFL ahead of April's draft.

Hill initially secured a top-30 visit with the Minnesota Vikings before racking up interest from in-state teams in the Dallas Cowboys and Houston Texans.

Additionally, the New York Giants are also reported to be meeting with him.

With no shortage of potential takers, Hill appears to be a fit for many professional rosters.

The Cowboys made good on their meeting with Hill on Monday night in Austin. While the meeting itself is nothing out of the ordinary, the circumstances surrounding it raise a few questions.

Dallas head coach Brian Schottenheimer started his day in South Beach for a visit to the Miami Hurricanes' Pro Day.

He scouted several former Hurricanes that could easily be taken with either the No. 12 or 20 pick, including defensive end Akheem Mesidor, who has been linked to the Cowboys.

Despite taking in much of this talent, the Cowboys coach was reportedly determined to make it back to the Lone Star State in time for the team's meeting with Hill.

While the interest in Hill has been highlighted, Schottenheimer's behavior has emphasized just how serious Dallas may be about keeping him in Texas.

The Cowboys hold the No. 12 and No. 20 overall picks in the NFL Draft, with no second-round selection.

However, many mock drafts have Hill firmly in the second round, hovering around the earlier picks.

This begs the question: Do Dallas and Schottenheimer take an unexpected turn and take Hill off the board much sooner than expected?

Or maybe, do the Cowboys surrender a higher pick to move down in position to snag Hill in the second round, where he's projected?

It is easy to see why Dallas is interested in Hill.

Saying Dallas struggled last season on defense would be an understatement, after putting up a historically abysmal unit, and the Texas standout linebacker could be exactly what first-year defensive coordinator Christian Parker is seeking to rebuild the front.

Heading in to 2026, Dallas has one former Longhorn in the linebacker core in DeMarvion Overshown. While the pair never shared the field in Austin, a potential burnt orange brotherhood could shape the Cowboys secondary.

Whichever previous scenario may be true, it seems that Hill may have found his future NFL home just hours away from where he spent his college days.
