Manning is projected to be a top pick in the 2027 draft, but where this latest mock has him going might not be the best thing for him.

It's no secret that Texas Longhorns quarterback Arch Manning is shaping up to be the potential No. 1 pick in the 2027 NFL Draft.

After a shaky start to the 2025 season, where Mannnig struggled to find his feet, he managed to steady the ship in the second half of the season.

Arch, in his final five games, went 4-1, threw for 1,368 yards, 10 TDs to just 1 interception, and rushed for 5 TDs, including his incredible 155-yard, 2-TD game against Michigan.

So, there is plenty to like about Arch, and given his end to the 2025 season, it has Longhorn fans excited about what 2026 could bring.

Manning could further establish himself as the best quarterback in the 2027 class, or he could simply be part of the chasing pack, as Oregon's Dante Moore currently leads the way.

But as we know with the draft, it's unpredictable, and I'm betting Arch won't exactly be thrilled with where CBS Sports' Ryan Wilson has him going.

In his latest mock, Wilson has Manning heading to the New York Jets.

"Manning got off to a sluggish start in 2025 but finished strong," Wilson wrote. "If he picks up where he left off late last fall, he'll be in the No. 1-overall-pick conversation. Again."

The Jets aren't exactly a franchise with a good record when it comes to developing quarterbacks or getting good quarterback play from veterans.

Aaron Rodgers, Justin Fields, Brady Cook, Zach Wilson, Sam Darnold, Mike White, Joe Flacco, Luke Falk, and Trevor Siemian are some of the starting quarterbacks the franchise has had since 2019.

That is quite the rotation, and depending on how the 2026 season goes with Aaron Glenn, if Manning is drafted to the Jets, it could be the start of yet another regime.

But the rot has to stop eventually, right? Could Arch be "that" guy for the Jets? The one to finally pull them out of the NFL doldrums and make them relevant again?

Of course he could. But the odds are stacked against him.

Garrett Wilson is a great target for Manning, and with Breece Hall signing a new deal, the cupboard isn't exactly bare in New York.

Manning as the Jets' starting quarterback in 2027. That had an odd ring to it, doesn't it?
