No. 4 Texas baseball returns to UFCU Disch-Falk Field on Tuesday night looking to keep its momentum rolling against Air Force and finish the homestand on a high note.
The Longhorns enter the midweek matchup at 6:30 p.m. CT after taking two of three from No. 11 Alabama, a series that showcased just how dangerous this club can be on the mound and why Texas remains firmly in the national title conversation.
The biggest storyline coming in is Texas’ pitching. The Longhorns piled up 49 strikeouts against Alabama, the most in a three-game series in program history.
Dylan Volantis and Luke Harrison each posted career-best strikeout totals during the weekend, while Texas matched a program record for a nine-inning game with 19 punchouts on Saturday.
Even in Sunday’s tight 2-1 loss, the staff added 13 more strikeouts and continued a season-long trend of overpowering opposing lineups.
That sets the stage for Michael Winter, who is slated to start Tuesday for Texas.
The right-hander enters with a 1-0 record and a 0.00 ERA, while Air Force is expected to counter with Bowen Brantingham, who is 0-2 with a 9.31 ERA.
Texas has controlled this matchup in recent years, winning six straight games against the Falcons and building a 6-1 edge in the all-time series since the programs first met in 2022.
The Longhorns also bring one of the nation’s strongest resumes into the game, ranking No. 2 in RPI, No. 6 in strength of schedule, and owning 11 Quad 1 wins entering the week.

At home, Texas has been even tougher.
The Longhorns are 7-2 in midweek games this season and continue to draw elite support at the Disch, where they’re averaging 7,237 fans per game.
With postseason positioning tightening, Tuesday offers another chance to strengthen an already impressive resume.
