Texas brings back its iconic Icy White uniforms for Saturday's Red River Rivalry against Oklahoma, as the No. 1 Longhorns chase another statement victory.
The Texas Longhorns are bringing one of college football's most recognizable looks to Dallas this weekend, and it's a uniform combination that carries decades of tradition.
No. 1 Texas will wear its signature "Icy White" uniforms against Oklahoma in Saturday's Red River Rivalry, while the Sooners will take the field in their traditional crimson jerseys at the Cotton Bowl.
Oklahoma is designated as the home team for the 2026 meeting, giving the Sooners the first choice of uniforms. The rivals alternate that designation annually, creating one of college football's most recognizable color combinations.
For Texas, the all-white look represents considerably more than a fashion statement.
Legendary Longhorns coach Darrell Royal helped establish the white road uniforms as a program tradition during the 1960s. Over time, the clean appearance became associated with a "business trip" mentality, particularly when Texas traveled into hostile territory.
And there may be no more emotionally charged environment than the Cotton Bowl during the State Fair of Texas.
With the stadium divided almost perfectly between burnt orange and crimson, the annual showdown offers an atmosphere unlike anything else in college football.
The Longhorns enter Saturday undefeated at 4-0, led by quarterback Arch Manning and head coach Steve Sarkisian. Oklahoma, meanwhile, is looking to reverse a troubling trend against its biggest rival.
Texas dominated last year's meeting, defeating the Sooners 23-6 behind a defense that forced three interceptions and shut Oklahoma out in the second half.
Manning completed 21 of 27 passes for 166 yards and a touchdown in that victory.
The Longhorns hold a 65-51-5 advantage in the all-time series entering Saturday's 122nd meeting. The programs have shared conference membership since the Big 12 began competition in 1996, and both made the move to the SEC in 2024.
But conference standings and national rankings rarely tell the entire story in this rivalry.
For Texas, the assignment is straightforward: Keep the undefeated season alive and continue its recent dominance over Oklahoma.
The Longhorns will simply be dressed for the occasion.
Kickoff: Saturday, October 10, at 2:30 p.m. CT on ABC.
