Who Are Texas' Top Five NFL Draft Prospects? cover image

Discover the five Longhorns primed for NFL glory. These talented prospects are set to hear their names called this April.

The NFL Combine is just around the corner, which also means the NFL Draft is just a couple of months away.

In 2022, Texas Football produced 0 NFL Draft picks. It was the first time that had happened since 2014. The Longhorns starting quarterback that season was David Ash.

However, under head coach Steve Sarkisian, Texas has re-emerged as a gold mine for talent. In 2024, the Longhorns had 11 players selected in the draft, an enormous two-year turnaround.

Texas doesn't have quite the player pool that it had last year entering this year's draft, but there are still plenty of Longhorns that teams will be targeting throughout the draft.

Here are five soon-to-be ex-Longhorn names that you'll hear called in late April.

LB Anthony Hill Jr.

Anthony Hill is a destructive linebacker, combining natural talent with an elite motor, almost acting as a human battering ram in the middle of a defense.

Hill was a four-year starter at Texas and developed into one of the best LBs in the country by his junior and senior season.

Last season, the 6-3, 238-pound beast did it all, recording 69 total tackles, seven tackles for loss, four sacks and even two interceptions.

Right now, Hill projects as an early second-rounder who can sneak into the latter stages of the first round. If he does fall to the second, it could be a steal for whoever snatches him.

CB Malik Muhammad

In 2024, Muhammad was a somewhat shaky counterpart to Jim Thorpe Award winner Jahdae Barron, but in 2025, Muhammad stepped up and solidified his role as cornerback one.

Last season, the six-foot, 188-pound CB totaled 30 tackles, four pass breakups, and two INTs.

Even though the Longhorns had their fair share of secondary issues last season, Muhammad was usually not at the scene of the crime.

The South Oak Cliff High School alum currently projects as an early third-round pick. That's a huge jump from where he was rated last season.

TE Jack Endries

Jack Endries came to Texas last season with lots of hype, and didn't perform up to his standard, but the talent to be a good NFL tight end is obviously there.

After recording 623 receiving yards with California in 2024, Endries followed that up with a campaign that included 346 receiving yards and three touchdowns.

Standing at 6-4, weighing 236 pounds, he specializes in catching passes and being an offensive weapon. That's why he's highly regarded as a mid-round draft pick and one of the better TE prospects in the draft.

His blocking can be an issue, but Endries has the measurables and route-running ability to be a solid NFL TE.

S Michael Taaffe

On top of just being an incredible walk-on story, Michael Taaffe has turned into a legitimate NFL prospect.

While he had a poor back half of the season, Taaffe still put up impressive numbers in 2025, recording 70 tackles (second on the team) and two interceptions.

He doesn't have the desirable physical attributes NFL teams are looking for, but the Austin natives production on the field can't be ignored.

The kid has heart, and that matters.

Right now, Taaffe is projected as a fifth or sixth-rounder. Taaffe's journey to the league will be one Texas fans remember for a very long time.

OG DJ Campbell

After looking like an early-round prospect in his first couple of seasons as a Longhorn, DJ Campbell's performances started to drop off.

After his senior season, his draft stock has fallen all the way down to day-three status.

But getting drafted is always a big deal, because you never know when a late-round prospect could be your next star player, just ask the New England Patriots.

At 6-3, 321 pounds, Campbell is a unit in the interior with the power to move opposing defensive linemen.

The Arlington, Texas native could be a sneaky good pick for any NFL team looking for offensive line depth.
