Elite wide receiver prospect Easton Royal enjoyed his time in Austin this weekend.
The Texas Longhorns hosted a handful of top recruits this weekend for official visits. Among them was 5-star wide receiver pledge, Easton Royal, who is the program's longest-tenured 2027 commit.
Royal, a 5-11 200-pound wideout from New Orleans, spoke openly about his time in Austin and how the Longhorns hoped to "lock down" his commitment.
"They did a really good job towards that," Royal said to reporters after the visit. "Obviously, me and my mom still have things to talk about, but they definitely set the tone the right way."
Royal has been committed to Texas since November of 2025, but there had been rumors that late pushes by LSU and Florida could lure him into a flip.
The recruit detailed how the conversations he's had with the Longhorns staff have been about his decision impacting his entire future, even outside of football.
"We went through football, but now ... they're trying to show me that UT is not just a four-year decision, but a 50-year decision."
When it comes to Royal's decision, he said there could be a waiting period until National Signing Day before he officially puts pen to paper to join the Longhorns or choose a different school.
Also in Austin this weekend was fellow 5-star recruit Monshun Sales. Royal said the two shared conversations about what it'd be like to team up with the Longhorns.
Royal detailed how he's also begun building a relationship with the Texas track and field program, suggesting that he could be a dual-sport athlete on the Forty Acres.
On the track, Royal displayed his slot-receiver speed with a blazing 10.17 personal-best in the 100-meter dash as a junior at Brother Martin High School, which set a Louisiana state record. He's also recorded an elite 20.82 time in the 200-meter.
Royal noted how the Texas coaches use their "all gas, no brakes" motto to define how they enjoy multi-sport athletes, but on the gridiron, Royal is confident in Steve Sarkisian's staff and system preparing him for a possible future in the NFL.
"It's an NFL-ready offense," Royal said about the Longhorns. "Since [wide receiver's coach Chris] Jackson has been there, he had two first-round receivers ... and Coach Sark being the OC at Bama when he was calling plays, DeVonta Smith Heisman winner."
And about his level of commitment to Texas?
"It's firm," Royal said.
