Texas Tech and Krista Gerlich have landed another major roster addition for next season.
LUBBOCK, Texas - Texas Tech has landed another transfer portal addition for Krista Gerlich's Lady Raiders squad, and this one comes with elite credentials.
It was announced this week that versatile Florida International forward Rhema Collins has signed with Texas Tech. She is the Lady Raiders' third portal addition in the last week.
Collins comes to Lubbock after a player of the year campaign in Conference USA. The senior from Nassau, Bahamas also appeared on the CUSA Defensive Team and was the Newcomer of the Year after transferring in from Ole Miss.
She proved that she has what it takes to return to high-major competition.
In 2025-26, Collins led CUSA in scoring at 17.7 points per game and was within the top-five across the conference in qualified field goal percentage. She is a versatile slasher standing at 6-2 that gives Gerlich endless opportunities on the offensive end.
"Rhema Collins could be the hidden gem of the portal," Gerlich said of her new star. "An athletic, versatile 3-4-5 player who will go get the ball off the rim. She's aggressive to the basket and led the nation in drawing fouls last season. She is a steal threat on defense and can stretch to the three or post up smaller defenders.
"Rhema will be a lot to handle on both ends of the court. I love her work ethic, coachability, and competitive spirit. She is another instant Lady Raider Nation favorite."
As Gerlich alluded to, Collins did more than put the ball in the basket. Nearly half of her 8.9 rebounds per game came on the offensive end (4.0, 12th in NCAA). She was in the top of the conference ranks in steals (2.1) and blocks (1.4) per game as well.
According to On3, Collins was the only player in the country to register at least 17 points, 8 rebounds, 2 steals and a block per game this past season.
She can do it all, and that culminated in crunch-time, too, as Collins hit a SportsCenter-worthy buzzer-beater to advance FIU to the second round of the Women's NIT this postseason.
With leading scorer Bailey Maupin now headed to the WNBA on a training camp contract, Gerlich is tasked with keeping the roster competitive as it tries to meet the high standards set this past season.
And it could be Collins who leads the way to carry that momentum into another strong season in 2026-27.
