Texas Tech added Oklahoma slugger Kasidi Pickering, giving the Red Raiders another elite bat as they reload after back-to-back WCWS runner-up finishes.
Texas Tech softball just added another monster bat to a lineup that already looked terrifying.
Kasidi Pickering, the Oklahoma outfielder and designated player who helped the Sooners win the 2024 national championship, is headed to Lubbock.
The Humble, Texas native enters as one of the biggest transfer portal prizes in the country and gives the Red Raiders another proven power hitter as they try to finally finish the job after back-to-back national runner-up finishes.
This past season at Oklahoma, Pickering hit .382 with 12 doubles, 19 home runs and 60 RBI while earning NFCA First Team All-Midwest Region honors.
And the power has been loud from the beginning. Pickering launched a grand slam in her first college at-bat in 2024 and never really stopped announcing herself.
She leaves Norman with 50 career home runs and a national championship ring, bringing Texas Tech the kind of postseason-tested presence every contender wants.
The fit is almost unfair.
Texas Tech already has Mia Williams, Jasmyn Burns and Desirae Spearman among the active career home run leaders in Division I softball.
Add Pickering, and the Red Raiders now have four of the nation’s top 30 active career home run hitters on the same roster.
Pickering becomes the sixth offseason addition for Texas Tech, joining a transfer group that includes Jayden Heavener, Moriah Polar, Bradi Gallaway, Hailey Maestretti and Zoie Bernard.
It’s an aggressive roster reload from a program that clearly isn’t interested in simply being close again.
The Red Raiders fell to Texas in the Women’s College World Series final after another deep run, and this move sends a pretty obvious message ... Lubbock isn’t settling for silver.
Pickering also brings more than numbers. Oklahoma coach Patty Gasso praised her growth as a leader, noting that when Pickering speaks, teammates listen.
With Kaitlyn Terry, Mia Williams, Taylor Pannell, Lauren Allred, Burns, Spearman and now Pickering all in the mix, Texas Tech’s 2027 lineup has the potential to be one of the most dangerous in college softball.
The Red Raiders didn’t just add a transfer; they added a title-chase weapon.
