The Tulane Green Wave bolstered their offense in the transfer portal this weekend with a couple of signings. There is a lot of talent on that side of the ball to replace between outgoing transfers and graduating players. The Green Wave seemed to initially pay focus to the offensive line and reinforcing that protection when the transfer portal window opened, building the foundation of the offense before looking at skill players. Also, frankly, it’s a bit more difficult to recruit skill players when a team doesn’t have a named starting quarterback.
Tulane hasn’t added a lot of proven players to the room, and some on the team have yet to announce whether they’re returning or not. But the room added some young reinforcements over the weekend, as Syracuse Orange wide receiver Gabe Daniels announced he was transferring to the program. The 6-foot-2, 195-pound Daniels brings some size to the room, which is important after losing Shazz Preston to the Indiana Hoosiers in the transfer portal.
Daniels was a three-star recruit who chose the Orange over several Power Four programs, including Kansas State and Wake Forest. He also had offers from strong Group of Five schools, including conference rival Memphis Tigers. The Atlanta, Ga., native started as a two-way player at cornerback and wide receiver for Greater Atlanta Christian, helping them reach the AAAAA playoffs in 2022. He switched to primarily wide receiver in 2023 and caught 31 passes for 531 yards and three touchdowns, in addition to returning a kickoff for a touchdown.
Daniels also ran track in high school. He was a state qualifier in the 100 and 200-meter dashes as a sophomore and placed sixth in the 200 at 5A meet. As a freshman, Daniel appeared 10 games for Syracuse and caught two receptions and 29 yards and one touchdown in the 2025 season, all against Colgate in September. Per Crescent City Sports, the speedster runs a 4.4 40-yard dash and posted a 10.57 time in the 100-meter dash, bringing a real vertical threat to help stretch the Green Wave offense. Daniels will join Tulane will three yards of eligibility remaining.
That is the second wide receiver addition for the Green Wave out of the transfer portal, adding former LSU Tiger Destyn Hill last week. The room loses Preston, in addition to Jimmy Calloway and Omari Hayes in the transfer portal. Seniors Bryce Bohanon and Tre Shackelford are graduating. Oliver Mitchell, Zycarl Lewis, and Shaun Nicholas all announced that they are returning for the 2026 season thus far.
