The Tulane Green Wave is slowly working on bringing in some wide receivers, and that continued on Monday with the addition of one young player who could make plenty of noise for the program.
Bredell Richardson officially announced his commitment to Tulane on his social media accounts, bringing some much-needed excitement to what has been a quiet few days for the program.
The rising redshirt sophomore started his collegiate career with the UCF Knights, where he had some flashes of greatness in spring practices but received very limited playing time in games. Prior to this, Richardson was a four-star recruit in the Class of 2024 and ranked as a top-60 wide receiver nationally.
With the addition of Richardson, the Green Wave has now picked up three wide receivers out of the transfer portal: former LSU Tiger Destyn Hill and Syracuse Orange transfer Gabe Daniels joined the program a few weeks ago. All three have shown potential, but they'll have some big shoes to fill.
Tulane now has 13 wide receivers listed on its 2026 team roster, though many of those players haven't received significant playing time. Anthony Brown-Stephens, Garrett Mmahat and Zycarl Lewis Jr. all made contribution for the Green Wave in its historic 2025 season, and they'll likely be expected to take on leadership roles within the program both on and off the field. Additionally, rising sophomore Oliver Mitchell Jr. received playing time in multiple games and is expected to get more touches in 2026.
There are a few other players who have been with Tulane for a few years now, though they haven't received playing time and are more than likely limited to scout team roles. The team will also add a pair of three-star recruits from its Class of 2026: Keyshaun Coleman out of Germantown High School in Madison, Mississippi, and Gary Hadley Jr. out of Cardinal Gibbons High School in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
Ideally, the Green Wave needs to add a few more proven wideouts from the transfer portal heading into spring practices. While the team has picked up a few key players already, there's been a significant loss of production from the 2025 team: Shazz Preston and Omari Hayes have both transferred elsewhere, and Bryce Bohanon is out of eligibility but will move into a graduate assistant role with the program.
There's still time for Tulane to secure a few more players as needed, though the options are beginning to get slimmer. The team will need to make some solid moves in the next few weeks to secure a few more transfer portal intakes heading into next season.
