The Green Wave women's golf star was named the American Conference Women's Player of the Month.

The Tulane Green Wave have had a successful slate of fall sports thus far with six different sports making some waves, along with some individual star power across the board.

The most recent individual honors went to Green Wave women's golf junior Francesca Pompa, who was named the American Conference Women's Player of the Month for September.

Pompa earned the honors after she finished first individually at the Tulane Classic presented by Chad Brownstein on Sept. 8-9.

She finished with a three-round score of 212 (-4), carding rounds of 72 (E), 71 (-1) and 69 (-3). Pompa also totaled 12 birdies – tied for most in the tournament – and was one of seven competitors to record an eagle in the field.

Pompa also has a strong showing at the Schooner Fall Classic in Norman, Ok., on Sept. 19-21 to follow up her individual championship. She tied for an 18th place finish with a three-round score of 207 (-3) and carded rounds of 69 (-1), 71 (+1) and 67 (-3) Pompa recorded nine birdies in the tournament.

That brings Pompa’s September tournament total to 21 birdies and an eagle as she secured two top-20 finishes and won an individual championship.

Pompa also placed in the top 10 of the most recent Ron Moore Intercollegiate tournament the Wave competed in in Denver, Co.

The team secured a third overall placement at the University of Denver Golf Club, finishing with a three-round total of 863 (-1) and 49 birdies.

Those efforts were largely led by Tulane star sophomore Sophia Macias, who tied for first in the individual standings with 7-under three-day total of 209. Pompa finished in ninth place with a score of 214 (-2) through three rounds.

Up next for the Green Wave golf team is a serious road trip out to Lihu'e, Kaua'I, for the Rainbow Wahine Invitational at the Ocean Course at Hokuala in Hawaii.

It will be a three-day tournament that kicks off on Oct. 19 and will conclude on Wednesday, Oct. 21.

There are quite a few competitors in this tournament. Tulane will face off against Long Beach State, Appalachian State, Prairie View A&M, Eastern Michigan, San Diego State, Nevada, Washington State, Osaka Gakuin, Grand Canyon, California State Sacramento, Brigham Young, Kansas State, and host Hawai'i.

With two stars leading the way in Pompa and Macias, the sky is the limit for Green Wave women’s golf.
