Three-star 2027 commits Tanner Ehmen and Kash Kolbow solidified their future in Orlando during official visits, anchoring a recruiting class rebounding with fresh talent and renewed energy.
Tanner Ehmen and Kash Kolbow came to Orlando last weekend for their official visits and left campus with a strengthened resolve to don the Black and Gold colors.
Both 2027 three-star recruits committed to play at UCF in May, eight days apart from each other. Ehmen, an out-of-state tight end from Alabama, announced his decision on May 15, and Kolbow, an in-state safety, made his commitment on May 23.
The Knights bolstered their 2027 recruiting class with their additions, but one interesting fact is that they committed before taking an official visit. Ehmen took an unofficial visit to the campus on April 3, for which travel and lodging expenses aren't covered by the school, unlike an official visit.
An official visit gives a future student-athlete the full college experience. They interact with players and coaches, and sit in classes or meet academic advisors.
Coach Scott Frost and his staff have emphasized finding hidden local talents and recruiting them. UCF's in-state connections played a factor in Kolbow's commitment, staying close to home.
"It was really amazing," Kolbow told Brandon Helwig of UCFSports. "It just solidified everything for me. It definitely felt like home, and I'm really excited to get there."
UCF has also expanded its reach to out-of-state recruits, like Ehmen. The focus on recruiting them is crafting a plan to maximize their skill sets when they play snaps for the Knights.
"UCF believes I can be that Swiss Army knife for the offense," Ehmen told Helwig. "Put my hand down in the dirt and get aggressive on the line, then flex out wide and be a vertical threat."
Kolbow and Ehmen's leaving Orlando with a stronger resolve to play for Frost and his staff is encouraging. The Knights are locking down recruits after witnessing multiple de-commitments over several months.
Three-star running back Connail Jackson de-committed last Thursday, which was a loss to the future depth of his position group. Frost and his staff have bounced back from their losses with a flurry of commitments over the last week.
They earned commitments from defensive back Jonathan Barnes, EDGE Dontallis Render, running back Omari St. Fort, offensive lineman Ty MontsDeOca and linebacker Ian McDuffie. These commits strengthen UCF's 2027 recruiting class alongside Ehmen and Kolbow.
These official visits have left lasting impressions on recruits to play for Frost and his staff.
