The University of Connecticut men's basketball team moved to 13-1 on Wednesday afternoon with a 90-67 win over Xavier on the road in Cincinnati.
The Huskies are also 3-0 in Big East play while the Musketeers are 1-2. UConn was ranked No. 4 in the most recent Top 25 poll.
Four different UConn players scored in double-figures, including senior Alex Karaban, who led the way with 19 points. He was 7-of-13 from the floor and 3-of-5 from three-point range, which helped him move up to a special spot in program history.
With 243 three-pointers now in his career, Karaban is fifth all-time in Huskies history, behind only Rashad Anderson (276), Christian Vital (265), Shabazz Napier (260), and Ben Gordon (246). It's conceivable that he moves up to No. 1 by the time the season ends.
A four-year player from Massachusetts, Karaban has already helped the Huskies win two national championships in his career. Appearing in 125 games with 124 starts, he's also been a member of the All-Big East Team (2024-25).
He's averaged 12.4 ppg for his career while shooting 48 percent from the floor and 38 percent from three. He's also an 85 percent free-throw shooter who has averaged five rebounds and two assists.
One NBA Draft analyst recently said he's a "lock" to have a great NBA career, but we admit he will need to show the athleticism to stay with athletic wings at the next level.
