The University of Connecticut men's basketball team earned the No. 2 seed in the Big East Conference Tournament after going an impressive 27-4 in the regular season and 17-3 in the conference slate.

Though the season as a whole was solid, the Huskies ended it on a sour note, losing 68-62 against Marquette on Saturday afternoon. St. John's earned the No. 1 seed with an 18-2 league record.

The Big East tournament begins on Wednesday at Madison Square Garden in New York City. The bracket was released at the conclusion of the league season on Saturday night.

Here's what you need to know.

How the tournament works

All 11 teams make the league tournament. The No. 8 seed plays the No. 9 seed on Wednesday while the No. 10 seed plays the No. 7. The No. 6 seed plays the No. 11.

The winners from those games advance to the Thursday games, with the No. 1 seed playing the winner of the 8/9 game and the No. 2 seed playing the winner of the 7/10 matchup. The No. 3 takes on the winner of the 6/11 game and the No. 4 and No. 5 seeds play each other.
