With Joe Fagnano set to graduate, the Huskies will turn to Bo Polston in the near future.

Brady Farkas on the commitment of Bo Polston to UConn.

The Jason Candle era has started off well in Storrs, as the University of Connecticut football program secured a major recruiting commitment on Wednesday in the form of quarterback Bo Polston.

Polston had committed to play for Candle at Toledo, but de-committed when Candle took the job at UConn, replacing Jim Mora, who left for Colorado State.

About Bo Polston

An Indiana native, Polston played his high school ball at Decatur Central High School. Rated as a three-star, he also had offers from Indiana, Liberty, Miami (OH), Minnesota, and West Virginia, among others. On3 lists him at 6'2" and 200 pounds.

As a senior this past season, Polston (was) 87-of-132 (65.9%) for 1,059 yards, 11 touchdowns and 10 interceptions. He also ran the ball 72 time(s) for 411 yards and six more scores. The year prior as a junior is where Polston really took off, throwing 158-of-248 (63.7%) for 2,069 yds, 21 touchdowns and eight interceptions to go along with 301 rushing yards and seven scores.

About the quarterback situation for the Huskies

Joe Fagnano is set to graduate in 2026, leaving a gaping hole in the UConn roster, along with losses of Skyler Bell and Cam Edwards.

As of now, Nick Evers is eligible to return to campus as a senior, as is soon-to-be sophomore Ksaan Farrar. Incoming junior Tucker McDonald and incoming sophomore Tyler Smith could also be back, in addition to other new recruits.

Of course, the transfer portal is always an option for players, and things always chance when a new coach is coming in.

Also for the Huskies

As the program continues to evolve under Candle, the current team is readying for its bowl game on Dec. 27. The Huskies will take part in the Fenway Bowl for the second straight year, this time against Army.

UConn is 9-3 on the season while Army is 6-5. The Black Knights still have one more game to play before the bowl game, as they'll take on Navy on Dec. 13 in their annual rivalry game.

Despite the 6-5 record and despite less rest time than UConn, Army is actually favored in that bowl game.

Also on campus

The UConn men's basketball team is currently 9-1 on the season and they'll host Texas on Friday night in Hartford (8 p.m. ET).

The UConn women's basketball team is 9-0 and they'll take on Southern California in a marquee matchup on Saturday afternoon (5:30 p.m. ET).
