The Huskies toppled the Irish by 38 points on Monday night.

After being challenged early on, the University of Connecticut women's basketball team responded in a big way on Monday night, throttling their rivals from Notre Dame 85-47 in a non-conference showdown at Gampel Pavilion in Storrs, Conn.

The Huskies, who are 9-0 inside the Big East, are now 19-0 overall. The Irish, who just fell out of the AP Top 25, are 12-6. Notre Dame had beaten UConn three consecutive times entering the matchup, and the Huskies blowout victory made history between the two rivals.

Per Alex Phillipou of ESPN on social media:

UConn’s 85-47 win over Notre Dame today marks the largest margin of victory for either team in the series’ storied history

Though Notre Dame is not ranked right now, they are one of the proudest programs in the women's game. They have been to 30 NCAA Tournaments, nine Final Fours and have won two championships (2001 and 2018). They also have 18 conference championships under their belt.

Former Big East rivals, the two teams have played 42 times since 2000-01, with the Huskies going 28-14.
