University of Connecticut men's basketball standout Tarris Reed Jr. earned a spot on the first Big East Honor Roll of the season for his big-time performance against UMass-Lowell on Friday.
The Huskies won that game 110-47, moving to 2-0 on the young season. They had beaten Division II New Haven in the season opener. Reed did not play in that contest.
Reed scored 20 points and had 12 rebounds against the Riverhawks. He did all that in just 17 minutes of game action.
A 6'11 senior who previously played at Michigan, Reed is from St. Louis. He earned Big East Sixth Man of the Year in 2024-25 as the Huskies advanced to the NCAA Tournament, losing to Florida in the second round. It was his first year in Storrs after spending two years in Ann Arbor. He played in 66 games for the Wolverines.
The Huskies will be back in action on Monday night against Columbia out of the Ivy League. Tip-off is set for 6:30 p.m. ET and the game will be aired nationally on FS1.
After this game, the schedule gets very tough for Dan Hurley's team, as they'll play BYU, Arizona, Illinois, Kansas, Florida, Texas and Butler all before the Christmas holiday.
Nearly all of UConn's non-conference games are against ranked teams, with only Bryant and East Texas A&M serving as unranked teams on the non-conference slate after this Columbia contest.
We'll have full coverage of UConn and Columbia tonight so keep following here at UConn Roundtable.
