Azzi Fudd, Sarah Strong and the entire men's basketball starting lineup received their latest honors on Thursday.
The honors keep coming for UConn basketball.
On Tuesday, Azzi Fudd and Sarah Strong were named first-team All-Americans by the U.S. Basketball Writers Association while all five starters on the men’s team were named to All-District teams in the Mid-Atlantic region, as announced by the National Association of Basketball Coaches.
Fudd and Strong
The dynamic pair already were named unanimous first-team All-Big East selections, with Strong the conference Player of the Year, as they have led UConn to a 34-0 record. The No. 1 overall seed in the NCAA Tournament, the Huskies will begin the defense of the national title they won in 2025 on Saturday with a first-round home game against No. 16 seed UTSA.
Fudd, a graduate student, is averaging a career-high 17.7 points per game on shooting percentages of 48.9% from the field, 44.6% from the 3-point line and 95.1% on free throws. In games against Top 25 opponents this season, she has put up a shooting split of 50%/46.8%/100% with an average of 24.4 points.
She also was selected as the 2026 Big East Scholar-Athlete of the Year and to the conference’s All-Tournament Team.
Fudd also is a finalist for the AAU Sullivan and the Katrina McClain awards. She is on the Naismith Trophy Late-Season Team and the Wooden Award Ballot.
Strong also is on the Naismith Trophy Late-Season Team and the Wooden Award Ballot, and, like Fudd, a McClain Award finalist. Strong also was named to the Naismith Defensive Player of the Year Late-Season Team.
She was the Big East Defensive Player of the Year, and ESPN and The Athletic already have named her their National Player of the Year.

UConn (29-5) is the only program with five NABC All-District selections and the only one to put four players on the first team.
Demary, Karaban and Reed also were selected to the All-Big East first team, becoming the first team in league history to achieve that feat. Ball made the second team, and voters unanimously named Braylon Mullins to the Big East All-Freshman Team.
UConn is the No. 2 seed in the East Region in the NCAA Tournament and will meet No. 15-seeded Furman in the first round on Friday night in Philadelphia.
