The Huskies were down 13 on Wednesday night but ultimately came back to beat the Friars in overtime.

The University of Connecticut men's basketball team moved to 15-1 overall and a perfect 5-0 inside Big East Conference play on Wednesday night, beating Providence 103-98 in an epic overtime road clash.

The Huskies overcame a 13-point deficit, and a 10-point halftime deficit, to win. They were down 11 with just about three minutes to play in regulation before forcing overtime.

Here's what else you need to know.

Demary and Mullins lead the way

Silas Demary Jr. played 41 minutes of a possible 45, scoring 23 points and dishing out a whopping 15 assists. Freshman Braylon Mullins, the former Mr. Basketball in the state of Indiana, also stepped up big, scoring 24 points on 8-of-14 shooting. He had three three-pointers in overtime alone.

Inside the box score

--Demary's 15 assists led UConn to 25 total assists on the night against just 12 turnovers. They forced 17 turnovers thanks to recording 11 steals. Demary had five on his own.

--The Huskies shot 49 percent from the floor and 56 percent (18-of-32) from three-point range.

--Providence outrebounded Connecticut, 37-33 and shot 58 percent from three-point range (14-of-24).

--The Friars took nine more free-throws than UConn did, but the Huskies were successful at the stripe, going 15-of-18.

--Each team had 32 points in the paint.

--All five UConn starters scored in double-figures, including 23 from Alex Karaban, 20 from Tarris Reed Jr. and 10 from Solo Ball. Ball sat the entire overtime period and much of the time down the stretch in regulation. He was just 3-of-10 shooting.

--UConn trailed by two with 30 seconds left in regulation, but Reed tied the game with a putback just outside of 10 seconds to send it overtime in the first place.

History-Maker

Karaban hit five three-pointers, giving him 248 for his career. That gives him sole possession of fourth-place all-time in Huskies history. He's now behind only Rashad Anderson (276), Christian Vital (265) and Shabazz Napier (260). He passed Ben Gordon (246), who is the former No. 3 pick in the NBA Draft.

Needs improvement

It's hard to complain about a team that scores 103 points, but the Huskies probably can't get by with just three bench points in a game. Jaylin Stewart is the only bench player who scored, scoring three points in 27 minutes. The bench was 1-of-5 from the floor and didn't attempt a foul shot.

What Coach Hurley is saying

After the game, Hurley spoke on returning to play in Rhode Island, where he coached at URI from 2012-18 and compiled a 113-82 record with the Rams of the Atlantic-10.

“I love coming back here because this is one of the best places you can live,” Hurley told NBC Sports postgame about Rhode Island. “It's an incredible state. …  Just my time in Rhode Island changed my life and then I went to another life changing place at UConn. So it's just special to be in this building.”

Up next

The Huskies will host DePaul on Saturday at 12:30 p.m. ET. They beat the Blue Demons 72-54 earlier this season.
