The latest addition is a 6-foot-3 guard who played last season at Jacksonville State.

After a furious rush, activity in the NCAA basketball transfer portal is slowing down, and that begs the question: Is Dan Hurley done building his 2026-27 UConn roster?

No is the easy answer.

Based on the news of the weekend, when two players who made recent campus visits decided on their next schools, UConn now has 12 players on the roster – including Solo Ball, who will sit out the season as he recovers from wrist surgery – with three open spots available.

That roster contains the name of guard Jaye Nash, a transfer from Jacksonville State who will be a junior in the fall. He announced his transfer on Saturday.

Committing elsewhere was 7-foot-1 center Vuk Lazarevic, a Serbian who played his senior year of high school basketball at Wasatch Academy in Utah in the 2025-26 season. He chose to attend Ohio State instead and will become a developmental project to fill the position in the future, according to Spencer Holbrook of On3.

Nash is the fifth transfer player to be added to the UConn roster.

Nash and the portal players

Nash is a 6-3, 195-pound guard whose hometown is Memphis, Tenn. UConn will be his third school. He played limited minutes as a freshman at Tulsa, but as a sophomore at Jacksonville State, he appeared in 32 games (17 starts).

Last season, he averaged 5.1 points, 2.8 rebounds and 4.0 assists over 25.5 minutes per game.

Jacksonville State, which plays in Conference USA, finished the season at 15-17.

Nash will provide depth at the guard position behind projected starters Brandon Mullins and Silas Demary Jr.

He is the fifth addition through the portal, joining centers Najai Hines (Seton Hall) and Oskar Giltay (Stanford), forward Nikolas Khamenia (Duke) and guard Nils Machowski (Wofford).

“So many emotions,” he wrote on his Instagram post that pictured him wearing a UConn uniform and a giant chain with the huge face of a husky attached.

How the roster looks today

The UConn 2026-27 basketball roster could look different on Tuesday if Hurley adds another transfer. But as of Monday, the Huskies have this group of players penciled in on what will be a young team that will count on the veteran presence of Demary:

Seniors: Demary, Machowski and Jayden Ross

Junior: Nash

Sophomores: Mullins, Giltay, Hines and Khamenia

Freshmen: Jacob Ross (redshirt), Junior County, Colben Landrew

Redshirt senior: Ball (out for season)

The Huskies could use depth at forward as well as a young center who can develop. With Giltay and Hines only sophomores, a third center might not see much playing time over the next couple of seasons.

Moving on

UConn lost seniors Alex Karaban, Tarris Ross Jr., Dwayne Koroma, Alec Millender and Malachi Smith, all out of eligibility.

Departing in the transfer portal were centers Eric Reibe and Rrezon Elezaj, forward Jaylin Stewart, and guards Jacob Furphy and Uroš Paunovic.

All but Paunovic have signed on with new programs.

The latest to find a new home was the 7-1 Elezaj, whom CBS Sports reported Saturday is transferring to Appalachian State.

Stewart is heading to SMU, Reibe to Southern California and Furphy to Boston College, where he will join Luke Murray, the new head coach who was a longtime assistant to Hurley.
