The Huskies scored 24 unanswered points to down the Terrapins

The Washington Huskies football program went through the entire 2024 season, the first in Jedd Fisch's tenure as head coach, without a road Big Ten win.

Fisch earned his first Big Ten win away from Seattle on Saturday.

Washington beat the Maryland Terrapins 24-20 at SECU Stadium in College Park, Md.

The Huskies erased a 20-0 deficit and scored 24 unanswered points, all of which came in the final 19 minutes of the game.

The comeback started with a 36-yard field goal kicked by Grady Gross with 3:44 left in the third quarter.

Washington proceeded to score three touchdowns in the fourth to cap off the comeback.

Wide receiver Denzel Boston found the end zone first on a three-yard reception from quarterback Demond Williams Jr. with 14:23 left in the fourth.

Just under three minutes later, Williams connected with receiver Dezmen Roebuck for a 34-yard yard touchdown. The score cut the Terrapins' lead to 20-17 with 11:32 left in the fourth.

The Huskies forced Maryland to punt the next possession, and took over at their own 20-yard line with 8:32 left in the game.

Washington put together an 11-play, 80-yard drive and capped it off with a one-yard touchdown run from Jonah Coleman with 5:17 left on the clock. The two-time Big Ten Player of the Week's score resulted in the eventual final of 24-20.

After Coleman's run, the Terrapins drove the ball to the Huskies' 43-yard line, but turned the ball over on downs. Washington took over with 1:39 left in the game and ran the rest of the clock out.

Williams finished the game 28-for-41 with 275 yards, two touchdowns and an interception. He added 54 yards on 14 carries.

Coleman rushed 18 times for 57 yards and a touchdown.

Boston finished with six receptions, 71 yards and a touchdown; Roebuck reeled in four passes for 61 yards and a touchdown and Decker DeGraaf caught six passes for 62 yards.

The Huskies improved to 4-1 on the season (1-1 Big Ten) with the win. They'll return home for their next game against Rutgers, scheduled for 6 p.m. PT on Oct. 10 at Husky Stadium.
