The Huskies 2025 OC, Jimmie Dougherty, will be staying in the Pacific Northwest with the Seattle Seahawks

The Washington Huskies football team made the decision earlier this offseason to enter the 2026 season without an offensive coordinator.

Huskies head coach Jedd Fisch will serve as the primary offensive play caller, as he has every single year since he was hired as head coach at Arizona ahead of the 2021 season.

Fisch's return to his familiar duties doesn't mean that the coaching staff was immune from change this offseason. Former Washington Commanders offensive coordinator Matt Cavanaugh was hired as a senior offensive assistant and analyst this offseason.

Former NFL quarterback JP Losman received a promotion from offensive control analyst to quarterbacks coach.

With those aforementioned job changes and Fisch retaining play calling responsibilities, 2025-26 offensive coordinator and then-quarterbacks coach Jimmie Dougherty and the program "mutually parted ways."

Dougherty was promoted last offseason after spending 2024-25 as the QBs coach and passing game coordinator. He assisted with the development of junior quarterback Demond Williams Jr., who led the Big Ten in total yardage last season (3,676).

The decision to move on from Dougherty came as something of a surprise considering his presence on Fisch's coaching staffs across several years.

However, it seems like Dougherty won't be going too far for his next job.

According to a report on "X" from NFL Network's Tom Pelissero, the defending Super Bowl champions the Seattle Seahawks have fired Dougherty as an offensive assistant.

It will mark the first NFL job for Dougherty.

Dougherty has spent the last 24 seasons coaching in the college ranks. He's spent the last 10 seasons with Power Four programs.

Dougherty was an offensive assistant at Michigan (2016), wide receivers coach at UCLA (2017-20), passing game coordinator and quarterbacks coach at Arizona (2021-23).

Dougherty followed Fisch from Arizona to Washington in 2024 when the latter was hired as head coach.

Dougherty either worked with or under Fisch seven of the last 10 seasons. The only three years he didn't was when Fisch spent three years in the NFL with the Los Angeles Rams (2018-19) and New England Patriots (2020).

Dougherty will get a chance to work with a team that is returning the reigning Offensive Player of the Year, wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba, who led the NFL in receiving (1,793) this past year. He'll also get a chance to work with quarterback Sam Darnold, who's coming off a season where he completed 67.7% of his passes for 4,048 yards, 25 touchdowns and 14 interceptions.
