PORTAL UPDATE: Washington Making Push For Big-Body Wide Receiver cover image

Isaiah Fuhrmann will be taking a visit with the Huskies after a trip to Georgia Tech

The Washington Huskies football team has stayed active in the transfer portal since it opened Jan. 2.

So far, the Huskies have added defensive linemen DeSean Watts (Sacramento State), Kai McLendon (Mississippi State), Darin Conley (Ball State) and Logan George (Ohio State).

Washington also fortified its offensive line with the addition of Kolt Dieterich (Sam Houston), bolstered its secondary with a commitment from cornerback Emmanuel Karnley (Virginia) and added experience to its youthful running back room with Jayden Limar (Oregon).

UW also gave its special teams a face lift with punter Hunter Green (San Diego State) and place kicker Tyler Robles (Texas State).

On top of those nine aforementioned transfers, the Huskies will also get a boost with a recruiting class that ranked 12th in the country according to the 247Sports composite. Several players from the class are expected to make some impact on the team in 2026 as true freshmen.

However, there's one big need from the transfer portal that Washington wasn't able to secure: a big-bodied wide receiver.

The Huskies lost leading receiver Denzel Boston due to him entering the 2026 NFL Draft. The program also lost key depth players Raiden Vines-Bright, Marcus Harris and Audric Harris to the transfer portal.

Washington was reported to be in the running for several notable pass-catchers, including Quincy Porter (Ohio State), Darrell Gill Jr. (Syracuse) and Naeshaun Montgomery (Florida), among others, but failed to secure a commit.

The Huskies could be gearing up to check that final box.

Despite the transfer portal closing Jan. 16, players already entered in the portal are still eligible to find a new destination.

According to a report from Matt Zenitz of CBS Sports, Elon sophomore wide receiver Isaiah Fuhrmann is currently visiting Georgia Tech and has a visit scheduled with Washington later this week.

Fuhrmann, who's listed at 6-foot-4, 192 pounds, fits the physical frame of other receivers the Dawgs have targeted in the portal.

He reeled in 46 catches for 907 yards (19.7 yards per reception) and nine touchdowns.

Despite playing for a Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) team, Fuhrmann's physical makeup and exceptionally high yards-per-catch metric indicates he could be the deep ball threat perfectly suited for sophomore quarterback Demond Williams Jr.

He would also be a big addition to a receiver room that isn't low on bodies, but lacks game experience.

Currently, the team's best returning receiver from this past season will be 2026 sophomore Dezmen Roebuck. He pulled in 42 catches for 560 yards (13.3 yards per reception) and seven touchdowns in his true freshman season in 2025.
