The Washington Huskies men's basketball team is getting ready for a daunting stretch of two home games.
The Huskies are coming off an 81-74 win against the Ohio State Buckeyes on Jan. 11 and will play the No. 4 Michigan Wolverines at 7:30 p.m. on Jan. 14 at Alaska Airlines Arena in Seattle. The game will be broadcast on the Big Ten network.
Washington will enter the game against Michigan 10-6 overall this season with a 2-3 record in the Big Ten.
After the Huskies' matchup against Michigan, Washington will play the No. 12 Michigan State Spartans on Jan. 17, also at Alaska Airlines Arena.
The date of the game also coincides with a big game for the team's NFL franchise, the Seattle Seahawks.
The Seahawks are set to take on their NFC West rivals, the San Francisco 49ers, in the divisional round of the NFL playoffs on Jan. 17 at Lumen Field in Seattle.
Fans looking to pull double duty in attending or watching the two games will be able to both.
MORE HUSKIES STORIES:
The Huskies' game against the Spartans is scheduled for 3 p.m. PT and will air on the Big Ten network.
Kick-off for the Seahawks' game against the 49ers is scheduled for 5 p.m. PT at Lumen Field. That game will air on FOX.
Washington has been plagued with injuries the entire season. In its last game against Ohio State, sophomore guard Wesley Yates III, backup center Lathan Sommerville and senior forward Jacob Ognacevic were all out with respective injuries. Senior guard Desmond Claude also missed the game due to a team decision.
Freshman forward Hannes Steinbach and sophomore forward Bryson Tucker have also missed time this year due to respective ankle sprains.
If the Huskies manage to win against either Michigan or Michigan State and get healthy, they might be able to make up for their earlier losses as they attempt to make the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2019.
Seattle entered the NFL playoffs with a 14-3 record and earned the No. 1 seed, which gave it a bye through the wild card round of the playoffs and homefield advantage at Lumen Field. If the Seahawks win out in the NFC bracket of the playoffs, they would advance to their fourth-ever Super Bowl and first since 2015.
If Washington upsets the Wolverines and Seattle eliminates the 49ers to advance to the NFC Championship game, it could end up one of the better days for Seattle sports fans in recent memory.
